1791 Thomas Paine Rights of Man Edmund Burke French Rev Age of Reason 2in1 RARE
“Whatever is my right as a man is also the right of another.”
– Thomas Paine, Rights of Man
‘Rights of Man’ was a book by Thomas Paine consisting of articles posing that a political revolution is allowed if a government does not support or defend its own people. Edmund Burke wrote an attack on the French Revolution, and thusly, Thomas Paine wrote his own defense of the French Revolution, responding to Burke’s critical reports. The ‘Printing of Mind and Man’ says this work is
“the textbook of radical thought and the clearest of all expositions of the basic principles of democracy”
This extremely rare and desirable 1791-1792 edition of Paine’s famed treatise is notable for including a dedication to George Washington in part I.
