A rare and desirable 17^th-century edition of ‘The Book of Psalms.’ This English printing, published by the Church of England, features the metrical version derived by Thomas Sternhold and John Hopkins. This 1792 London edition was published by Jarvis and contains two versions of the Psalms – the traditional metered Sternhold and Hopkins version and then a ‘new version’ of each Psalm written to be sung to hymn tunes in English churches.

Interestingly, this particular example features a rare, fine binding with ‘JHS’ embossed on the front cover.
