An extremely rare and early printing of the Treaty of Amity! More commonly known as the Jay Treaty, this treaty between the United States and Great Britain was an agreement made to establish peaceful trade between American and Britain during the uncertainty caused by the French Revolution. It was formally drawn by Alexander Hamilton under the supervision of George Washington and was negotiated by John Jay, hence the name.

It should be noted that while the focus of the treaty was on establishing good commerce with Britain, it did anger French authorities. At the end of the work, there is an interesting section dedicated to the value of Negro slaves, noting their value being the same as cattle!
