Anne Grant was an 18th-century Scottish author who is primarily remembered for her collection of poems entitled “Memoirs of an American Lady”. While born in Scotland, Grant moved to New England with her family when she was young and grew up in Colonial New York. It was here where she gained her inspiration for “Memoirs” which proved to be one of the best works of biographical poetry on American prior to the Revolutionary War.
