that dominated Japan from 1192 to 1333. ‘Genpei’ is illustrated by Chuwa Nishimura and Sadaaki Oku, two of the leading illustrators of the period.

This rare edition is written in a column handwritten format with furigana usage for easier reading. This edition contains excellent illustrations of scenes from the Genpei War also called Jishō-Juei War including samurai, ronin, courtesans, geisha, battles, cities under siege, ship battles, and much more!
