- Possibly Charles B. Chalmers (d. 1841), a cadet at West Point until his graduation in 1834. He was eventually promoted to First Lieutenant in the 1st Artillery, where he served during the Second Seminole War. It is likely that the numerous sketches and marginalia in this book are also his work.
