1839 Revolutionary WAR 1ed Letters of Eliza Wilkinson American George Washington
Eliza Wilkinson, a notable figure of the American Revolution, is best remembered for her numerous letters. These letters, according to Ellet,
“present a lively picture of the situation of many inhabitants of that portion of country which was the scene of various skirmishes about the time of Lincoln’s approach to relieve Charleston from Prevost.”
Perhaps her most iconic letter included her description of George Washington’s victory at Yorktown over General Cornwallis.
These letters were published in 1839, collected and edited by Caroline Gilman.
