1839 Anti SLAVERY 1ed William Jay American Action of Government TEXAS Revolution
William Jay was a 19th-century American abolitionist who published an important treatise on the development of American anti-slavery societies. Jay’s “View of the Action of the Federal Government” – is an attack on the government’s poor efforts to give ‘people of color’ freedom. Jay identifies the government’s depriving them of voting, instilling oppressive ordinances, the lack of urgency in recovering freed slaves, and so much more. Jay clearly outlines the dangers of slavery and the covers the successes of slavery emancipation in other locations around the world. Sadly, Jay has to appeal to white government officials by identifying other whites that have suffered in some capacity in the slave trade.
This book also includes a section on the conduct of the government in their efforts to purchase Texas and the ensuing rebellion.
