Sir William Jardine was a 19^th-century Scottish naturalist most known for his extensive series of books on natural history, ‘The Naturalist’s Library’.

This 1839 edition of Jardine’s ‘Mammalia’ is beautifully color illustrated with 33 engravings of various species of ‘Amphibious Carnivora’ edited by Robert Hamilton. The plates from Jardine’s works are exceedingly desirable and are found framed and displayed by themselves. This volume showcases illustrations and descriptions of the walrus, seal, sea-lions, Manatee, sea-serpent, and more. This 1839 volume includes a memorial and portrait of Francois Peron.
