“Fireball brilliancy surpasses that of the moon; some have been so brilliant, even by day, that they have cast a shadow. Their light is of a dazzling white, or else reddish.”

– Kaemtz, Meteorology, ‘Appearances of Fire-balls’

Ludwig Friedrich Kaemtz was a 19th-century German physicist and meteorologist. He is considered the founding father of modern meteorology. He avidly studied glaciers and ocean waves and the effects of weather on each. He recorded his findings on his weather study in 1831 into his first textbook of meteorology.
