1851 1ed Guards Royal Military Victorian England Illustrated War HORT Provenance
Lieut. Colonel Hort was a 19th-century officer in the Royal Military who is, curiously, best known for his literary works of fiction rather than his military career. One such work fused his two careers, ‘Guards and the Line’ – a short, conversational-like story filled with illustrations of French royals and battle scenes.
This impressive, oblong book contains numerous full-page engravings by Alfred Crowquill.
