Anne of Brittany was a 15^th-century French noble who served, twice, as the Queen of France while married to Charles VIII and his cousin Louis XII. Author Le Roux de Lincy wrote one of the best, if not the best biography on the life and reign of Queen Anne – a work which surveyed not only her life but also the political landscape of France during the reigns of Charles VIII and Louis XII.

While the contents of this book are important, it is the display and binding itself that is so remarkable of this example. Each of the four volumes from this 1860 first edition is beautifully bound in decorative green leather with gold décor and gilt fore-edge.
