Henry Whitfield was an early American Puritan minister who is primarily remembered today for his home, which is still standing today – one of the oldest American buildings. His book “Strength Out of Weakness”, originally written in 1652, was written to help progress the missionary expeditions to Native American Indian tribes in New England. It notably includes correspondence from and descriptions of voyages of John Eliot, the Puritan missionary who reached countless members of the Massachusett and Wampanoag people.

 

This 1865 limited print run edition is numbered no. 157 of only 250 copies printed. Highly rare! Note, it features a reissue of the original 1652 edition.
