The Independent Order of Odd Fellows is one of the largest and oldest fraternal organization in the US. Originally founded in England in the 18^th century, American Odd Fellowship can trace its origins to Baltimore, 1819. With lodges that resemble that of the Freemasons, the Odd Fellows published the all-important ‘Pocket Companion’ which provides descriptions of systems of membership, rules and regulations of ceremonies, odes and hymns, and initiation expectations.

This 1868 edition is filled with countless illustrations throughout, including many bizarre symbols – the skull and crossbones is especially curious!
