An exceedingly rare and beautiful 19^th-century illuminated Catholic breviary. “Illustrated Hours”, published in 1873, contains litanies, hymns, and personal devotions, as well as the well-known prayers for mass, Matins and confession, studies on the Passion of Christ, and much more.

This book is stunning. The Moroccan red leather makes for an impressive display; however, the gold fore-edge gilding, functioning clasps, as well as color illustrations throughout make this book one of the most desirable of its kind. According to the title page, the illustrations are done by a Ch. Mathieu Gsell and G. Regamey, though it is unknown who these figures might be.
