A rare, English translation of the 24 books of the Hebrew Bible, or Tanakh, by Isaac Leeser.

Leeser was a 19^th-century American Ashkenazi Jewish leader who made his name by establishing Jewish printing presses in America. In fact, Leeser produced the very first Jewish translation of the Bible in English. Leeser recognized a lack of Jewish printing in America and, while living in Philadelphia, began publishing Jewish texts for worship.

This particular English edition was published in Philadelphia in 1878.
