1882 Jules Verne 1st ed Green Ray Le Rayon Vert Extraordinary Voyages Hetzel ed
“Reality provides us with facts so romantic that imagination itself could add nothing to them.”
― Jules Verne
Jules Verne’s adventure novels are some of the most popular and famous works of literature of all time. Known mostly for his works of science fiction, ‘Voyages Extraordinaires’ was Verne’s largest collection of fantasy novels and stories. One of the lesser known works from the series was ‘Le Rayon-Very’, or ‘The Green Ray’. Verne was familiar with the naturally occurring ‘green flash’ phenomenon and wrote a story of scientists in search for the fascinating green flashes.
Note on dating: like many other Verne first editions, the title page included was issued in each edition, including later printings. The dating comes from the ads in the back of the book – note the ads in this volume advertise for the releases in the 1883 print year.
