In 1787, Spanish author Francisco Palou wrote “Relación histórica de la vida y apostólicas tareas del venerable padre Fray Junípero Serra” – an extensive history of the life of 18^th-century Franciscan priest Junipero Serra. Serra was known for establishing Catholic missions in Baja California, as well as California from San Diego to San Francisco. Palou was a first-hand witness to Serra’s voyage through California in which he described many of the earliest settlements and Catholic missions in the American West.

This 1884 English edition was translated and abridged by Joachim Adams.
