Jules Verne’s adventure novels are some of the most popular and famous works of literature of all time. Known mostly for his works of science fiction, ‘Voyages Extraordinaires’ was Verne’s largest collection of fantasy novels and stories.

“L’Île à hélice”, also known as “Propeller Island” or “The Floating Island”, was not one of Verne’s most famous books but saw significant success shortly after it was first published. In fact, it was just as popular as “Around the World” when they were first published. Verne uses his adventure novel motif but includes more elements of romance than in previous novels.

Note on dating: like many other Verne editions, the title page included was issued in each edition, including later printings. The dating comes from the ads in the back of the book – note the ads in this volume advertise for the releases in the 1895-1896 print year.
