In the years following the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars, the French public was interested in the life of Napoleon and his armies.
James Thomas Baily’s collection of illustrations depict Napoleon in a variety of locations, poses, scenes, and events all drawn or painted from a variety of 19th-century artists. Many of the illustrations included in Baily’s 1908 “Napoleon” are in color as well. A fine piece!

He served during the American Revolutionary, French Revolutionary, and Napoleonic Wars, eventually rising to the rank of Vice-Admiral.
