Does the Eagle know what is in the pit?

Or wilt thou go ask the Mole:

Can Wisdom be put in a silver rod?

Or Love in a golden bowl?

Thel’s Motto, William Blake

William Blake was an English poet and painter whose work was underappreciated during his lifetime. One such work, which is often buried in the multitudes of English poetry, was “The Book of Thel”. Written around 1790, this poem of prophecy tells of the life of Thel, a young girl who is pondering the meaning of life and while all humans must eventually die. The poem explores the fear of death through the lens of both innocence and experience.

This fine 20th-century limited edition printing is numbered no. 223.
